Department of Education Free Technology Equipment for Native American Students
All University of Arizona enrolled Native American students are prequalified for this program. Equipment loans will auto-renew every 21 days for the duration of your enrollment or until the equipment is no longer needed. Supplies are limited and based on availability.
In partnership with the University of Arizona Libraries Tech Toolshed and funds from the NTIA grant, the Pascua Yaqui Tribe - University of Arizona Microcampus is thrilled to offer free long-term technology equipment loans to Pasque Yaqui and other Native American students enrolled in:
- University of Arizona Main Campus
- Arizona Online
- Distance Native American programs
Eligibility: All University of Arizona enrolled Native American students are prequalified for this program. Equipment loans will auto-renew every 21 days for the duration of your enrollment or until the equipment is no longer needed. Supplies are limited and based on availability.
Note: If you are not currently enrolled as a student at the University of Arizona but are an active participant in the Pascua Yaqui Tribe - University of Arizona Microcampus, we kindly want to let you know that this program is not open to you at this time. However, we are excited to share that the PYT-UA Microcampus is committed to making this equipment available to all microcampus-enrolled students by Spring 2025. How to Apply:
Complete the Equipment Request Survey Form (takes 3–5 minutes). You can choose to:
- Have the equipment shipped to your home via FedEx.
- Pick it up at the Tech Toolshed (Main Library, 1st floor).

Windows PC Laptop
Lenovo ThinkPad E15 Gen5 (with built-in webcam) + Sony ZX Series Headset (with mic)
DSLR Camera Kit
Canon Rebel T7 (includes hard case, memory card, lenses, and battery charger)
Wi-Fi Hotspot
Unlimited data; no throttling or caps
Program Details:
- Loan Auto-Renewal: Your equipment will auto-renew unless overdue library materials or non-CAN equipment are on your account. Visit your library account to check due dates.
- Returns: Free return shipping labels are available if requested before August 1, 2025.
- Hotspot Availability: Hotspots remain active until at least July 1, 2024 (extensions depend on funding).

Green Screen Room
Record video files with our professional backdrops and lighting systems in a soundproof space. Use the green screen to add virtual backgrounds.
You can reserve the Green Screen Room in advance. The first time you reserve the room, we'll give you an orientation to the space and explain how to use our equipment. After that, you can reserve the studio whenever you'd like.
After you reserve the space, you'll receive a confirmation of your reservation within 2 business days.
Sound Studio
Record podcasts and audio files with our professional microphones and podcasting equipment in a sound-buffered space.
You can reserve the Sound Studio in advance. The first time you reserve the studio, we'll give you an orientation to the space and explain how to use our equipment. After that, you can reserve the studio whenever you'd like.
After you reserve the space, you'll receive a confirmation of your reservation within 2 business days.
Maker Space (Catalyst Studio)
At CATalyst, you can explore and use cutting-edge equipment like laser cutters and 3D printers, attend events and workshops to develop new maker skills, create your own media and projects such as podcasts and videos in our dedicated spaces, and get certified in 3D printing, laser cutting, or CNC milling.
One Button Studio
Easily record and create professional-quality video presentations, lectures, and instructional videos using the One Button Studio's recording setup.
All the technology you need to create high-quality videos is in the studio, so you don't have to bring or set up your own tripods, lights, or video cameras.
Virtual Reality (VR) Studio
The Terry Seligman VR Studio is the University of Arizona’s first public virtual reality studio.
Put on a comfortable headset, grab your hand controllers, and immerse yourself in virtual spaces and environments.
